The Primary Provision which is based at The Rosemary Centre in Wilmington, offers respite placements for pupils in Key Stages 1 and 2. Pupils are referred through LIFT. All referrals include current information on the pupils academic, social and behavioural profile. The Primary Provision has a "revolving door" policy and placements are for a maximum of 12 weeks which includes a 4 to 6 weeks full time within the provision. The placement is a partnership between the provision and the mainstream school.

Pupils are taught in groups of up to 8 pupils (Key Stage 2) and up to a maximum of 6 (Key Stage 1). Each group has a class teacher as well as one to two teaching assistants who support with learning.

The provision provides a nurturing and supportive environment whilst still ensuring that boundaries and expectations are clear. Each group benefits from daily Phonics, Literacy and Numeracy work as well as on-going opportunities throughout the day to reflect on behaviour and social interactions.

Pupils return to mainstream school over a six to eight week period. Much planning and support is given to the reintegration programmes
